WELCOME!!

This is Tsuyoshi Kawakami. Most of you may know me.
For some of you whom I haven't had a pleasure of
meeting you, I am TORAZO, the master breeder of
URAKAWA Koi farm. Thank you for visiting our home page.
I hope you'll take a little bit of time to learn about us.

Our farm is located in Uragara, Ojiya, very heart of Nishikigoi
mainstreet. We have about 40 mud ponds, in approximately 10
acres of area. We've been in business for 88 years.
Our mai production is high quality Go-Sanke varieties.

Our Koi

TORAZO - Urakawa Koi farm is the home of TORAZO Sanke, one
of the classic lines of Sanke variety. Now the original TORAZO line
is not prominent in our Sanke, we have been introducing new lines
into our line and improving it for years. Now our main production is

Kohaku - the ratio now is about 50% Kohaku, 30% Showa, and 20%
Sanke.

"Every person who visits TORAZO is impressed by the high standard
of TORAZO's koi. If you're looking for quality, this is one of the few
farms in Niigata which you must pay a visit."

(words of recommendation by Tamikazu Kobayashi)

Our History

My great grandfather Chuzo Kawakami, started the farm
in early 20th century. We had been established in 1917
(this is the year Russian revolution took place!). Then
my father Hiroshi took over just when Nishikigoi was
getting to be very popular in Japan.

Now I have been running the farm for more than 10 years.
Every season is a new challenge for me, in order to keep up
with the name of TORAZO, and to improve our line of koi.
